The main role of floor pillars is to harmonise the space. I believe that smell is an important element of space.

Incense stands straight up and smoke rises upwards. I felt they were like cedar branches growing straight up.
The aluminium plates are made with a spinning process. I dared to leave those ripple-like processing marks. By doing so, I tried to emphasise the spread of the good smell.

The title of this work, 薫, means ‘to give off a good smell’ and ‘to inspire people with virtue.
The incense fills the space and brings harmony to the place. I am looking forward to the power of the incense.
